Katherine Arrechea Reed
Katherine's new website can be found at katherinereedart.com
Katherine began her art career in high school as a hobby, drawing charcoal sketches of local historic buildings and experimenting with portraits of well known personalities. However, textured paintings in acrylic on canvas soon became the medium she used to best capture a variety of subjects including her love of all things great and small.
Her art is influenced by the events and people she experiences on her daily journey through life. From the wonder of children to the complexity of life that exists in nature, she strives to recreate a memory or a glimpse of life that can become a life of its own.
A native of Oxford, Mississippi, Katherine Arrechea Reed, attended the University of Mississippi where she earned a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. Although never formally taught to paint, she attributes her artistic talents and abilities as God given gifts handed down from the strong and very talented women of her family.
